John 14:13-14 KJV
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
This is Jesus speaking and setting the example. Jesus(The Word made flesh/anointed one/Savior)is a gift from God. It is God’s love and sacrifice. When we ask in his name, it is a reminder that we are grateful for that unprecedented sacrifice; It is a reminder that it is because of His love that we receive “ …because He first loved us”1John4:19. It’s also an acknowledgment of knowing that whatever we ask for is from Him. God then is glorified by the Gift and Love by The Word. “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”(Luke 6:38). Give first and you shall receive is following and reflecting after God. Demonstrate and people will see and follow.
Jesus demonstrated this with Simon in Luke 5:4-6 kjv
“4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught (rough draft/catch/ fill/breath/ portion/flow)
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.”
Simon received that overflow because he specifically acknowledged him with respect and said, “by your word” (In the name of Jesus). Simon’s fault was that he didn’t completely follow Jesus’s direction to keep the full catch. Jesus said “nets” and Simon let down one, raggedy “net”. Jesus still set the example and commanded through God and followed through with his word and poured the overflow that God’s Word had to give, but Simon didn’t move with the full faith to receive the full blessing at first and only got what his part, raggedy, “broken” faith could keep. Still some, but not as much. Then had to ask his friends now to help receive after seeing it, then having faith. The overflow was produced on the faith just off of the word which reaches and still blessed even the ones with the faith after seeing. Could you imagine if Simon came with the faith of a plenty of ships? Go “deep” and bring your full faith of plenty. Allow God to be glorified by you receiving through Jesus Christ, His gift, and receive His fullness and overflow TODAY…in Jesus’s name AMEN.
